A Zeitgeist is, according to the Oxford Languages, “the defining spirit or mood of a particular period of history as shown by the ideas and beliefs of the time.” In a dying society, in which delusions have fed into each other in order to keep its inhabitants comfortable within the degrading environment, we experience a social phenomenon known as the “shitegeist.” Within the cultural and social framework of a collapsing civilization, all sorts of parodies of logic and sense abound, because to be rational is to willingly deal with the painful knowledge of what’s transpiring around you. Just like how most humans prefer painkillers over pain, despite the risks associated with prolonged use, most humans prefer fantasies over facts despite similar consequences resulting from long-term indulgence. In a society in which its people are increasingly going insane in a multitude of different directions to keep themselves coherent and functional, the biggest fools are those who have the means to be aware but try to retain a sense of normality. There’s nothing normal or sustainable about any of this, and no matter how hard you try to blend in, at the end of the day, you’re just integrating yourself further into the madness.
You don’t have to be a hermit to resist the downward pull felt across your society, and in many ways, you can be perfectly functional without betraying your sense of reasoning and dignity. What makes a man valuable are largely external and material factors owing to his capabilities to achieve and procure things, but what makes a man retain any of that throughout his life is the character and integrity he accrues over time. For most of us, the cities that propagate most of the filth we associate with the shitegeist offer little more than the dreams and fantasies that this system peddles to its delusional followers. Existing outside these epicenters of decay, you can live conservatively, use reason without criticism in your everyday life, and avoid most of the negative elements associated with the fall. The world around us is changing, as it always does, and what corrupts will only ever seek to deepen the depravity and extend its reach out further. Seeing as how the past lead to the present, the natural course of corruption will ripple throughout whatever fabric of society that you find yourself inhabiting, regardless of whatever temporary measures conservative implement to try and hold the tide at bay. If the natural endpoint of Western conservatism was this tide of depravity, use its logics and values as training wheels rather than as handcuffs, and feel free to outgrow their constraints.
For you to survive this maddening society intact, it’s a case of gradually migrating to the increasingly further reaches and fringes of civilization as the rest of society disintegrates. Just as a fire spreads outwards, the decay of civilizations spread outwards, and just as a fire burns all life within its reach, the decay will inevitably corrupt and destroy all within its reach. Over generations, this decay will render countless bloodlines extinct and leave people on their deathbeds realizing all these pointless sacrifices they made in the pursuit of pleasure and vanity were for nothing. If you are reading this, it is because I do not want that fate to be shared by you – whoever you are. There is a material meaning to life and it can be found in everything around us, from the stupefying complexity of our miraculous technologies to the prodigious promises that the future holds for mankind – if we keeps our wits about ourselves. The extropic values and lessons taught throughout Judeo-Christian society have turned illiterate barbarians into scientists and destitute migrants into conquerors. What values and lessons worked in the past will work again in the future, to a degree, and if you forget this in the present times, your bloodline will eventually not have to worry about the future anyways. Resisting and avoiding the corrupting influence of the Shitegeist, however you do it, is essential. In a society where the norms will eventually destroy you, don’t be normal.
